Notes on Expenditure by Departmental Output Expenses

 

Aquaculture settlement - The Maori Commercial Aquaculture Settlement Act 2004 provides for a settlement of Maori interests in commercial aquaculture, including the provision of 20% of new space in aquaculture management areas and the provision of 20% equivalent existing space allocated since September 1992. This departmental output expense provides for the implementation of the Maori Commercial Aquaculture Settlement Act 2004.

 

Marine biosecurity – This output class covered the services related to the management of risks to marine biosecurity, and focuses on outputs that contribute to the goal of protecting the marine environment. Effective from November 2004, the Ministry’s marine biosecurity functions were transferred to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The 2004/05 financial performance figures cover the period from 1 July 2004 to the date of transfer.
