The Ministry has a budget of approximately $20 million per year for fisheries related research. This budget is spent on four main areas: fisheries research, biodiversity research, customary research and other services research (includes stock assessment processes, scientific support for international fishing agreements, technical input into policy advice and socio-economic research). The Project Status Reports (below) are a monthly update of the research that has been commissioned for each year, and the total cost of the project.
