International Polar Year (IPY) Census of Antarctic Marine Life (CAML) Project
In February-March 2008, New Zealand is participating in an international research programme, Census of Antarctic Marine Life (CAML), which aims to survey circumpolar marine biodiversity in the Southern Ocean and Antarctica during International Polar Year (IPY). R.V. Tangaroa will be used for the 8-week New Zealand-led voyage to the Ross Sea region in 2008, and survey planning is underway.

This document is a call for two types of proposals related to the International Polar Year - (IPY-CAML) project.
- Short Requests for Additional Data Collection
- Proposals for post-Voyage Analysis
The document has two components – Part I and Part II.
Part I provides the policy context for the call for proposals and gives details of the two types of proposal sought and detailed instructions for request and proposal preparation, and for submissions thereof.
Part II provides detailed background information to ensure that all respondents are informed about the current status of the IPY-CAML project and the science development of the project.
