HIGHLIGHTS

In 2004/05 the Ministry is planning, through Vote Fisheries and Vote Biosecurity (Fisheries), to:

  • receive $79.9 million in revenue from the Crown and $2.4 million from other purchasers of services, from which it will supply the six departmental output classes for Vote Fisheries and the departmental output class for Vote Biosecurity (Fisheries) detailed in the Statement of Objectives in this report

  • incur output expenses of $82.3 million in providing these services. Please note that this figure:

    1. excludes the new initiative for improved observer coverage to monitor incidental capture of seabirds - $2.2 million
    2. provides for partial implementation of the 2004 Budget initiative related to the Serious Offences Unit. Implementation will be at 50% for 2004/05, and 2005/06, rising to 100% in 2006/07 and thereafter.


The output class split for 2004/05 is set out below - (2003/04 figures in brackets).

The following conventions have been used in the preparation of the figures contained in the financial tables in this section. Unless otherwise stated:

  • all financial information is expressed in $000s

  • all financial measures are on a GST exclusive basis

  • a variance calculation shown in brackets '( )' signifies an increase in expenditure or a decrease in revenue.
