  1. To develop techniques to improve stock assessments of harvested fish stocks.

Specific Objectives:

  1. To develop a medium-term research plan for stock assessment methods.

Rationale:

General

Medium-term research plans are used to direct research planning for required services. New and improved methods are continually developing for stock assessment research throughout the world. The research plan should describe the research required over the next 3-5 years to evaluate new techniques of stock assessment and data analysis, which may be applied to New Zealand fish stocks.

Strategic Relevance

All the objectives in this project are consistent with the Fisheries Resources goal in the Ministry of Fisheries Strategic Research Directions document.

Cost Recovery Information:

The percentage allocation for this project will be attributed to the following Fishstocks according to rule 9.2 of the Fisheries (Cost Recovery) Rules 2001:

  • All Fishstocks

The project is estimated to cost between $0 – $50,000.
