This is a consultation document outlining a further evolution in our approach to fisheries
management. The goal for New Zealand fisheries is to maximise the value New Zealanders obtain through the sustainable use of fisheries resources and protection of the aquatic environment. The Ministry is consulting with stakeholders on how the Ministry proposes to contribute to this goal. The Ministry is proposing to employ stock strategies and fisheries plans to implement this approach.
