OUTPUT 33 - CUSTOMARY APPLICATIONS PROCESSED
DESCRIPTION
The management of applications from stakeholders to manage customary access, the evaluation of the applications and their subsequent approval or refusal. This output now includes implementation of the Fisheries Deed of Settlement.
EXPLANATION
This output provides for fisheries management advice on implementing customary fishing rights through:
- the implementation of the customary rights and tools available in the customary regulations ie the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998 or the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999
- the provision of facilitation resources to assist in the management of the relationship between the Ministry of Fisheries and tangata whenua.
