FISHERIES SERVICES AND CONSERVATION SERVICES COST RECOVERY LEVIES FOR THE 2006/07 FISHING YEAR

The determination of cost recovery levies results from decisions taken by the Minister of Fisheries in respect of the fisheries services to be undertaken by the Ministry and by the Minister of Conservation in respect of conservation services undertaken by the Department of Conservation.

Following these decisions, the Ministry of Fisheries, using the rules prescribed in the Fisheries (Cost Recovery) Rules 2001, calculates the levies to be applied to each fish stock, based on the total amount to be cost recovered from the commercial fishing industry.

The levy rates in the attached schedule were gazetted on 31 August 2006 and come into effect on 1 October 2006.
