Ministry of Fisheries proposing changes to Compliance Group
3 September 2004
The Ministry of Fisheries has begun consultation with it's Compliance staff on proposed changes that would see a significantly enhanced investigation capability, along with a more national focus on monitoring, surveillance and investigations.
The proposed changes are about ensuring better value for the significant investment made in fisheries law enforcement.
Key components of the proposed changes include the alignment of all fisheries services to the Ministry's strategic direction along with improved capability, flexibility, and accountability.
It is anticipated that, following consideration of feedback from Compliance staff, decisions on organisational changes will be made in November 2004.
