Dunedin School Student Wins MFish National Poster Competition

A Dunedin school student has won a Ministry of Fisheries national poster competition (for Term 4).

Columba College's Victoria Dawes, a Year 10 student, won a digital camera in the competition, which was held to emphasise the importance of marine biodiversity to years 9 and 10 students, who study the subject as part of their curriculum.

The winning poster, in watercolour and crayon, was chosen on the basis of artistic merit and they way it conveyed the message that it is important to protect New Zealand's marine biodiversity. A total of 121 Year 9 and 10 students from around the country entered the competition.

Term 3 was won by Christchurch's Cashmere High School student Anton Mather, and in Term 2 (the first for the competition) Christchurch's Avonside Girls' High School student Sarah Fulham won the competition.
