Mataura River Mataitai - Proposed Bylaws
The Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the Mataura River Mataitai Reserve proposes bylaws closing the Mataitai Reserve to the taking of tuna (eels) and kanakana (lamprey) and prohibiting the use of fyke nets in the Mataitai.

Cockle Bay Shellfish Stocks
This paper discusses the concerns about depletion of the shellfish resource, principally cockles, and proposes possible management solutions to address the concern. The paper proposes that MFish recommends to the Minister of Fisheries that he implements a seasonal closure over the summer period from 1 October to 30 April, inclusive.

IPP - Seabird Mitigation Measures for Trawl and Longline Vessels

Fisheries Standards
MFish has released for stakeholder consultation a package of draft fisheries standards. The first package consists of harvest strategy, consultation and a priority-setting process for the management of non-Quota Management System stocks. Also included is an overview paper setting out the context for developing standards and providing definitions of key terms.
