INITIAL POSITION PAPER: ALTERING THE FISHERIES (COST RECOVERY)RULES 2001 WITH RESPECT TO THE BENTHIC PROTECTED AREAS ACCORD

This Ministry of Fisheries (MFish)  proposal could result in changes to the Fisheries (Cost Recovery) Rules 2001. If approved these would take effect on 1 October 2007. The Initial Position Paper (IPP) provides you with MFish’s initial position on the issue being reviewed, and the Final Advice Paper (FAP) sets out the Ministry's advice to the Minister following consultation.

The IPP includes the rationale to support the proposal, analysis, the implications of the proposal and a preliminary recommendation. The paper recommends an amendment to the schedule relating to the apportionment of costs of fisheries and conservation services contained in the Fisheries (Cost Recovery) Rules 2001 (the cost recovery rules) to reflect the requirements of the 2007 Benthic Protected Area (BPA) accord.
