The Ministry of Fisheries (MFish) is consulting on a proposal to extend the existing two year closures of the amateur blue cod fisheries in Milford and Doubtful Sounds. The Initial Position Paper (IPP) provides you with MFish’s initial position on the proposal. The IPP includes the rationale to support the proposal and the alternative of reopening the areas.

The purpose of this letter is to invite you to participate in this process.

MFish welcomes written submissions on the proposal. Written submissions are due by 12 March 2007 and should be posted to Fiordland Blue Cod Closures, Ministry of Fisheries, Private Bag 1926, Dunedin. Alternatively, electronic submissions can be emailed to mailto:tania.cameron@fish.govt.nz..

  • Rose Grindley, Inshore Fisheries Manager, (03) 474 0333
