Dear Stakeholder

Review of sustainability measures for the Campbell Island Rise southern blue whiting stock (SBW 6I) for the April 2006 - March 2007 fishing year

The accompanying Initial Position Paper outlines the Ministry’s considerations and proposals for the TAC and TACC to apply for the April 2006 – March 2007 fishing year for the SBW 6I stock.

You will be aware from previous notification that the timeline to complete the review of the SBW 6I fishery is compressed, limiting time available for consultation. I ask that stakeholders consider the IPP and provide their submissions to the Ministry no later than 3 March 2006. Your comments will be included in the final advice that I expect to provide to the Minister in early March, so that his decisions can be effected in time for the start of the new SBW fishing year on 1 April 2006.

I acknowledge the short time provided to consult on this IPP, but the earliest possible receipt of your submissions will assist the Ministry in completing the advice and decision process according to schedule.
