Consultation on methodology used for valuing the impact of aquaculture on commercial quota under the regulations

The Ministry recently consulted on:

  1. developing an arbitration methodology to determine whether a proposed aquaculture activity would generate materially greater value to New Zealand than the commercial fishing activity it impacts; and
  2. determining the compensation payable to quota owners if adverse effects are undue.

A range of submissions were received.
