Review of Sustainability Measures for Surf Clam Stocks in QMA 2 and QMA 3 for 1 April 2010

Between 11 January 2010 and 22 February 2010 the Ministry of Fisheries (MFish) consulted on sustainability measures for a number of surf clam stocks in QMA 2 and QMA 3 for the 1 April 2010 fishing year:

DAN2 Ringed Dosinia (Central East)
DAN3 Ringed Dosinia (South-East Coast)
MDI2 Trough Shell (Central East)
MMI3 Large trough shell (South-East Coast)
PDO2 Deepwater tuatua (Central East)
SAE2 Triangle shell (Central East)
SAE3 Triangle shell (South-East Coast)

A final advice paper was provided to the Minister of Fisheries in March 2010. The Minister has now made his decisions, which are contained in the decision letter available for download below:

In summary, the Minister has decided to set the total allowable catch (TAC), sector allowances and total allowable commercial catch (TACC) as follows:
