Flatfish (FLA3) - Proposed In-Season TAC Increase for the 2009-10 Fishing Year

In April 2010, the Ministry of Fisheries consulted on a proposal to increase the catch limit for Flat fish (FLA 3) within the current fishing year. The Minister has now made his decisions, as outlined in the decision letter and based on the final advice paper (available for download below).

In summary, the Minister decided to increase the total allowable catch (TAC) within the 2009-10 fishing year, from 1,617t to 1957t; and to make available additional annual catch entitlements (ACE) to commercial fishers of 333t., as well as making slight increases to the other sources of fishing-related mortality.

At the end of the current fishing year, the previous TAC, TACC and allowances will apply.
