Flatfish (FLA 3) – Proposed In-Season TAC Increase for the 2008-09 Fishing Year

In June 2009, the Ministry of Fisheries (MFish) consulted on a proposal for an in-season increase in the total allowable catch (TAC) for Flatfish 3 (FLA 3) and an associated increase in annual catch entitlement (ACE).

A Final Advice Paper was provided to the Minister in July 2009, and the Minister has now made his decisions, which are contained in the attached decision letter.

In summary, the Minister has decided to:

i) Increase the TAC for FLA 3 from 1,617 tonnes to 1,974 tonnes for the 2008-09 fishing year; and

ii) Create additional ACE of 350 tonnes
