Coromandel Scallops – In-Season TAC review for the 2009-10 scallop fishing year
In July 2009, the Ministry of Fisheries (MFish) consulted on proposals for the in-season review of the total allowable catch (TAC) for Coromandel Scallops (SCACS) and associated changes to annual catch entitlements (ACE) and non-commercial catch allowances.
A Final Advice Paper was provided to the Minister in August 2009. The Minister has now made his decisions, which are explained in his decision letter that is available for download below.

In summary, the Minister decided to set the TAC at 155 tonnes, and allocated allowances and ACE as follows:
- the allowance for recreational fishing is set at 10 tonnes meatweight;
- the allowance for customary Maori fishing is set at 10 tonnes meatweight;
- the allowance for other sources of fishing-related mortality is set at 35 tonnes meatweight; and
- the annual catch entitlement (ACE) for quota owners is set at 100 tonnes meatweight.
