- introduce a weighing procedure for fish packed and frozen at sea on 1 December 2008;
- amend regulations to clarify that certain fields on TCEPR, SJCER and TLCER returns must be completed daily;
- create a requirement for containers holding freshwater eels to be labelled with the permit holder’s initials, surname and client number;
- amend regulations to correct a number of errors in fishing area coordinates and descriptions;
- defer the enactment of measures for the reporting of non-defined landed states until 1 June 2009;
- list prawn killer on the Sixth Schedule of the Fisheries Act 1996;
- retain the existing combined amateur daily bag limit of five häpuku/bass and kingfish in the Central Fisheries Management Area;
- defer the proposal to place high seas fishing permit conditions in regulation until 1 June 2009;
- implement a four-year closure for recreational fishing for blue cod within the enclosed Marlborough Sounds, including the Tory Channel. Recreational fishers will additionally be required to land blue cod in a whole or gutted state within the wider Marlborough Sounds area.
