QMS Introductions October 2008

In May – June 2007 MFish sought stakeholder input on whether or not to introduce bellowsfish, broadnosed sevengill shark, capro dory, hagfish, lamprey, longnosed sevengill shark, silver dory, mirror dory and seahorse into the QMS on 1 October 2008. Submissions in response to the preliminary risk analyses were largely unanimous in opposing further consideration of these species for QMS introduction. MFish concurs with the majority of submitters who supported this position and will not proceed with further steps to introduce any of the 10 species or species groups into the QMS on 1 October 2008.
