The Minister has recently announced that the expansion of coastal areas open to the commercial harvest of brown and green beachcast seaweed in the North Island. The additional areas open to commercial harvest come into effect 26 October 2009. The following fact sheets outline where the commercial harvest of brown and green beachcast seaweed is permitted in Fisheries Management Areas 1, 2, 8 and 9.
