Conversion Factors

In October 2011 the Fisheries (Conversion Factors) Notice 2011 came into force. It replaces the previous Conversion Factors Notice, which had been in place since 2005. The primary reasons for issuing a new notice were to:

  • Incorporate all amendments that had been made to the 2005 Notice between 2005 and 2010
  • Correct a small number of errors that had been identified in the 2005 Notice
  • Update some of the landed state definitions to ensure all definitions use consistent wording

There are also a small number of conversion factor changes in the 2011 Notice:

  • The conversion factor for LIN UTF (ling skin-on untrimmed fillets) has increased from 2.25 to 2.40
  • The conversion factor for HOK UTF (hoki skin-on untrimmed fillets) has increased from 2.15 to 2.25
  • The conversion factor for LIN MKF (ling minced, skin-off fillets) has decreased from 3.10 to 3.05
  • The conversion factor for HOK MKF (hoki minced, skin-off fillets) has increased from 3.10 to 3.20
  • The conversion factor for SBW MKF (southern blue whiting minced, skin-off fillets) has increased from 3.10 to 3.35
