Fisheries Communications Centre (FCC) : Hours of Operation
24 November 2008
In 2004 the reporting functions of the FCC were vested in the Compliance Information Services Group which has now been disestablished. Funding for the FCC role never provided for more than normal business hours coverage and since 2004, industry have been benefiting from enhanced coverage at a cost to other MFish activity.
The FCC functions are going to be consolidated into the Compliance Maritime Operations team from 5 January 2009. After this date the FCC will only be staffed from 8:30am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
The FCC will not be staffed during statutory holidays. In the short-term this means that it will not be open for business on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and the 2nd of January.
Notification / application periods are specified in legislation. However, for those permit holders seeking monitored unloads it is recommended that you provide at least one full business days notice of your port arrival so that this can be facilitated.
Failure to do so may result in vessels having to wait several days before unloading. This means that notification after 5pm on a Friday would not be actioned until after 8:30am on a Monday.
If you have any queries regarding this matter, please contact Gary Orr, Manager : Maritime Operations on (04) 8194230 / gary.orr@fish.govt.nz.
Yours faithfully
