Aquaculture in New Zealand
The Ministry of Fisheries Aquaculture Unit is the Government’s principal advisor on aquaculture and is working with the aquaculture industry, iwi, environmental and recreational groups, local communities and councils, and other interested parties to identify potential and sensible opportunities for aquaculture growth in New Zealand.
The New Zealand government has developed an aquaculture website that is managed by the Ministry of Fisheries. The site includes information on the environmental effects of aquaculture, regional planning, Māori development, industry development and farmed species. The site may be viewed at www.aquaculture.govt.nz.
