Your involvement in the UAE test

If the Ministry decides to seek information from fishers for an aquaculture decision on a coastal permit you can provide information on fishing activity in proposed marine farm area.

If you want to receive regular updates on requests for information for the UAE test, or notifications of aquaculture decisions, you can let us know you want to be added to our mailing list of stakeholders.

If you do not want regular updates but would like to be notified about progress on a specific coastal permit for aquaculture you can email us at UAE@mpi.govt.nz or phone the Spatial Allocations Team on 03 548 1069.

What type of information is needed?

The Ministry needs information on recreational, customary and commercial fishing activity at proposed marine farm sites. In particular, the Ministry needs information relevant to the six matters it can consider under UAE test. The six matters are outlined in the UAE test page.
